First step in using a food processor is to make sure all parts are clean and dry.
Next, measure the ingredients for your recipe using measuring cups. Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl or other container that will fit under the spout of the food processor.
Place the plunger into the feed tube at least half-way. Turn on the machine and keep it running until you have achieved your desired consistency. If you want to chop or slice vegetables very thinly, use one of the disks with small holes in them that will turn the vegetables into thin slices or pieces. If you want to turn vegetables into a purée, use a disk with larger holes so that everything comes out chopped but not blended.
Useful tip:
-Remember to use a food processor for only dry ingredients unless you want the results to be a purée. For instance, if you want to mix wet and dry ingredients together, it’s best to use a machine with an even larger bowl capacity along with a plastic or rubber spatula.
– You can also add in extra ingredients when your food is getting chopped by using either your spatula or the plunger. For instance, when making salsa, add in some fresh cilantro before everything else has been processed so that it gets blended into the rest of the vegetables instead of just being chopped up next to them. This will give your salsa a fresh taste without anything being too overpowering.
Be careful not to overfill your bowl when using your food processor. It’s best to separate the dry and wet ingredients so that they don’t all get mixed together. For instance, if you’re going to combine your wet and dry ingredients for a cake in a food processor, make sure not to add more than two cups of flour or else the mixture will turn into a sticky paste rather than a stiff dough.
Also remember that whatever comes into contact with the blades of your machine is subject to being chopped up too finely, even if it’s something from your salad! That means lettuce leaves will get cut apart just as much as carrots do. This may sound like an easy way out, but it can be frustrating when trying to make garnish for a meal or some other small detail.
