I find most people are curious about how air fryers work. What makes them curious is the fact that you can enjoy the great taste of fried and roasted food without oil. This can make anyone curious but all our life we heard that fried and roasted foods are not healthy as they are cooked in oil and oil is not good for health and weight for many reasons. The question that hits the brain and triggers is; how is it even possible or is it just a fairy tale or some selling trick. Yes, to fry and roast without oil is possible and I consider air fryers a miracle of technology in this regard.
How do air fryers work?
The basic mechanism of an air fryer consists of two basic features. The first thing is cooking the food using its natural oil content to give it crispiness and the specific texture of the outer layer. The second thing is its mechanism of working that is based on hot air, it cooks the food by hot air.
It has the following parts that perform different functions:
1. Heating element
Every air fryer has a heating element that is the source of raising the temperature and consequently producing the heat in the air fryer.
2. Fan
Air fryers have built-in fans in them, as the heating element raises the temperature of the cooking chamber, fans circulate this hot all around the food. Scientifically, we call it the convection method that air fryers cook food through convection. This hot air cooks the food, it has the ability to make the food crispy and brown by using food’s own natural oil and it can go deep into food for complete, even, and perfect cooking.
3. Temperature and timer adjustments
Air fryers have temperature and timer adjustments that allow you to fix the temperature and time for different food items. Many modern and updated air fryers have built-in presets on them. Presets add great convenience as you do not need to adjust the temperature and timer for different dishes, just press the button, and time and temperature will be automatically adjusted to the optimum level to cook that particular dish.
4. Shake alarms and food agitator
To shake the food at regular intervals makes a great difference in cooking quality. It is highly recommended to shake the food after intervals. Advanced models of air fryers have built-in shake alarms that remind you when shaking is required. and a few new and upgraded models have built-in food agitators in them that continuously shake the food itself.
These are health-friendly, and time-saving little beasts
Food that you cook in an air fryer has 70 to 95% less oil in it than you have otherwise cooked by deep-frying. If you are a fitness freak, it is even more suitable for you. These are small in size and take less space in the kitchen this is why I call them little beasts. Little for their size and beast for their working capacity. If you choose the right model for your kitchen, you will be surprised by its efficiency and will call it a little beast as I call them. As I am talking about efficiency, it’s not about quantity or its health-friendly mechanism only, it is about the variety of work they can do.
Many updated models have a built-in reheat function in them that allows you to reheat your leftovers. Why will you buy a separate microwave oven if you can reheat with an air fryer? And also advances and upgraded models of air fryers have dehydration function. Some people love to eat dehydrated food, it’s great fun. So, air fryers allow you to dehydrate food. Just buy the one that has all features to meet your requirements.
Does an Air Fryer Use Radiation?
The simple and straightforward answer is no. Air fryers don’t emit radiation like a microwave oven.
