Air Fryer VS Instant Pot: Which is best for your household?

An air fryer and an instant pot both belong to the countertop appliances family. However, they are not exactly the same thing. Both of them have their own strengths and weaknesses too. So in this article, we will discuss how these two appliances follow a different approach in preparing food for your household. We’ll also identify specific instances when one would be better than another in terms of cost and efficiency. Well, let’s get started:

Air Fryer VS Instant Pot: Strengths & Weaknesses

There are quite a few similarities between an air fryer and an instant pot. Both of them are countertop appliances which can provide the user with several cooking options. They both make use of modern technology to quickly cook food inside their enclosed chambers using pressure, steam or hot oil. Some models even come with the ability to sauté, brown, or roast. So in terms of functionality, they actually have a lot in common. However, there are also key differences that should be considered before buying one of these appliances for your kitchen:

Instant Pot strengths:

An Instant Pot is mostly known for its automatic pressure cooking features which allow you to save time when preparing meals at home. It comes with 10 preset buttons that automatically adjust themselves depending on the type of food you are cooking. This is especially useful for busy people who don’t have much time to monitor their cookers while they’re busy with other household chores.

Another strength of this appliance is that it allows you to control the pressure inside its chamber manually. This means that if you want, you can reduce or increase it at any given moment. This feature allows users to prepare dishes which require additional tenderizing like ribs and tough cuts of meat. Instant pots also come with a high-quality non-stick inner pot which makes cleaning them afterward very easy.

Finally, some models do not only function as pressure cookers but also as slow cookers too! So if your household consumes a lot of soups, stews, and curries, then getting one of these appliances might be the best choice for you.

Air Fryer strengths:

One of the biggest advantages that an Air Fryer has over the Instant Pot is its capacity to fry food. Yes, this appliance doesn’t just grill or bake your favorite dishes but it can also be used to quickly brown them as well with little to no oil! This is possible thanks to the “air frying” cooking technique which was first introduced by Philips back in 2008. If you are looking for an appliance that will allow you to deep-fry large amounts of French fries, fried chicken pieces, and mozzarella sticks, etc. then buying one of these appliances would most certainly be a good idea for you!

However, if you are looking for an appliance that can pressure cook your food then the Instant Pot is definitely your best choice. This type of cooking technique requires a constant high temperature to properly prepare food inside its chamber. This is why it’s only possible with Instant Pots. Air fryers don’t have this feature because they just circulate hot air inside their chambers at all times so even with higher temperatures it would not be able to reach the needed 120degrees Celsius required for pressure cooking.

Air Fryer VS Instant Pot: Which is better in cost/efficiency?

To answer this question we need to look closely at how both appliances function and determine which one will provide more convenience when performing each task individually. If you plan on using an Air Fryer exclusively for deep-frying your favorite fried foods then it would be the most convenient option. However, if you plan on buying one mainly to grill, bake or roast different types of food then the Instant Pot would be the best choice for you. So in general, if you are looking for a versatile appliance that can perform several cooking functions then both will work well with your household. But if you only plan on preparing deep-fried food regularly at home, then getting an air fryer will definitely be more cost-effective for you!
